Our Story Begins Here

Hi — we’re the people behind SplitACharter.

My wife (Savannah) and I (TJ) spend our winters in the Florida Keys and have taken a lot of charters over the years. One thing we realized pretty quickly is that charters are incredible experiences, but they can be expensive when you’re paying for the entire boat yourself.

Some of our favorite trips actually happened when we split the charter with another group. Not only did it make the trip more affordable, but it was also a great way to meet new people who were just as excited to be out on the water.

Around the same time, we kept seeing the same posts pop up in Facebook groups:

"Anyone want to split a charter?"

It happens all the time, small groups want to go fishing or diving but don’t have enough people to fill the boat.

That got us thinking there should be an easier way to connect people looking for the same kind of trip.

So we started talking to captain friends we know in the Keys, including our partner Ryan Jenkins, and every single one of them had the same reaction:

"That’s a great idea."

Captains told us they get calls all the time from small groups who want to go out but don’t have enough people to fill the boat.

So we built SplitACharter to help connect those groups, make charters more affordable, and help captains fill more days on their calendar.

We launched the site and haven’t looked back.
